State Board Recognition

Today I attended my first State Board of Education meeting in Lansing to be recognized as the 2012-2013 Michigan Teacher of the Year. I had a chance to meet Paul Galbenski, last year’s Teacher of the Year, and see a presentation of all the great work he did during his year.  I definitely have a lot to look forward to!  I then had a chance to address the Board and thank many wonderful people in my life.

I was presented with a wonderful statue and plaque and had many pictures taken (which can be seen under my portfolio tab). It was an amazing day and I couldn’t be more thankful to the selection committee and State Board of Education for welcoming me and allowing me the chance to serve in this position.

Thank you to my guests who celebrated this day with me: my parents Robert and Jennie Bray, sister Kari Jo, nephew and niece Kaden and Faith, Dave and Jeannie VanEerden (Lance’s parents), our school leadership coach Jan Baar, my principal Rodney Lewis, superintendent of GRPS Teresa Neal, and my significant other Lance.  It was so special to have each one of you there with me!
