Yesterday I attended the traditional “Passing of the Torch” when previous Michigan Teachers of the Year welcome the newest addition and also celebrate the year end for the previous MTOY.

I had a wonderful afternoon talking with some amazing educators, and I feel so privileged to be part of this group.  Jen Haberling hosted us in her beautiful new home, and I thank her for her hospitality as well as the thoughtful gifts from everyone.   The hours passed so quickly as they told me some highlights from their years as well as words of advice.  Paul, 2011-2012 MTOY, recently returned from Space Camp and that sounds incredible as well as Washington DC.   WOW!  I cannot believe some of the wonderful things that I am going to get to be part of!

It sounds like I am going to be on quite a journey this year, and they all tell me that it will be an amazing year for me.  I feel so blessed and fortunate to have this received this honor!  Looking forward to my year and will keep everyone updated on what I am doing here on my blog.
